Star Anise
This pointy spice is traditionally used in nyonya soups that need to simmer for long periods of time such as Kiam Chye Ark(duck soup with salted mustard cabbage).

Bunga lawang ialah sejenis rempah yang mempunyai bentuk yang runcing. Ia digunakan di dalam sup nyonya seperti sup itik bersama sawi asin,Kiam Chye Ark, yang perlu direneh di dalam jangka masa yang lama
